You can have a maximum of two additional named drivers on a policy. They must be a spouse, partner or other close family member of the main policyholder. They also need to meet the same criteria as policyholders, which means they must:
- Be between the ages of 23 and 75
- Hold a full UK or EU licence
This isn't an exhaustive list, so the best thing to do is to try the change on your app or online web dashboard, and we can let you know whether the change is possible.
You can make up to three self-serve changes to your policy each year absolutely free of charge through your app or web dashboard. If you make more than three changes, or you contact our Customer Experience team to make a change, you’ll be charged the admin fee shown in your Policy Schedule.
Your premium may also change as a result of any amendments to your policy.
If you want to add a driver on a temporary basis, it might be easier and cheaper to use temporary cover instead.
There are many providers of temporary insurance if you need it. We can't make any recommendations, and you should do your own research to find the best policy.
